Eton FRX3 photo The FRX3 powers up in multiple ways – solar panel, hand crank, built-in rechargeable battery, or traditional batteries. Using the crank for 1 min will give you enough juice to last for 15 min of radio.

To charge your smartphone, simply plug it into the USB port. Power will automatically dump the charge to your phone, just like plugging into the wall. It includes an auxiliary input for additional audio devices and boasts an ‘alert’ mode which will automatically broadcast emergency weather alerts for your area such as hurricanes, tornadoes and severe storms.

And if you do need it in emergency situations it also has a LED Flashlight and Beacon. The only thing really missing is that it’s not water proof. Other than that it’s a great little device.
