Biolite is back with their new stove. Last year they introduced us to the popular Biolite CampStove. This time around it’s their larger version, essentially the same as it’s smaller companion with improved power and usability.

It’s an alternative to fossil-fueled stoves so you won’t need to worry about carrying fuel. You can grill or boil at the flip of a switch and it converts heat from the fire into usable electricity via a thermoelectric generator housed within the orange power pack.

In turn, this powers a fan that blows air back into the burn chamber for improved combustion. The surplus electricity is then used to charge your devices. It puts out 5W of usable electricity so you can charge any USB device you need around your camp like lights, GPS systems or smartphones. The power pack also includes a battery to store additional energy for later use.

Other features include a handy flexible USB light for cooking in low light conditions, adjustable legs and a smart LED Dashboard for monitoring your fire and power.

Whether you’re camping, in your own backyard or adding to your emergency preparedness kit for off the grid cooking and electricity, you may want to check this stove out. The Kickstarter campaign is almost over and will retail later this year for $299 USD on the BioLite website.
