waveAlthough the radiation generated from cell phones poses no confirmed health risks, it is not entirely risk-free. This new product is essentially a radiation dampener which will greatly reduce the amount of radiation your phone emits during the night.

Last year a group of 31 scientists from 14 countries meeting at the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO/IARC) completed a review of the available scientific evidence on cell-phone radiation and brain tumors. The initial conclusion was that using a mobile phone may increase your risk for certain kinds of brain cancers.

The World Health Organization plans to conduct a formal risk assessment of all studied health outcomes from radiofrequency fields exposure by 2016.

If you are concerned at all about the potential health risks, the WAVE will help cut down the radiation your phone emits while you sleep. WAVE’s front cover (which curves around the sides) is constructed from plastic and is lined with a layer of radiofrequency (RF) shielding fabric. Don’t worry your phone will still work, as the shielding fabric is not embedded in the top, bottom, and back allowing the phone to maintain connection.

Other simple ways to cut down on smartphone radiation – text instead of call or use wired hands-free headsets. Check out the Kickstarter campaign to get more details.
